I can trace my career as a stylist back to childhood. As a fashion-forward five-year-old, it wasn't uncommon to find me under a table with a pair of plastic scissors, cutting my own hair. I decided to build on that passion (but refine my technique) and pursue cosmetology full-time. I have been cutting hair professionally since 1996 and still love what I do.

I believe that a person's hair should reflect their personality and demonstrate their individual style. A good cut should accentuate facial features and enhance natural beauty, rather than draw attention from it. I use hair's natural texture and growth pattern to create a look that is easy to style and unique for each client. Color should always complement the cut and skin tone – though I'm comfortable with satisfying your more experimental changes!

Continual education gives stylists the opportunity to hone their skills and keep up-to-speed with current trends. I have trained with Toni & Guy, Bumble & Bumble, Goldwell, Wella, Vidal Sassoon, Modern Organic Products, and Sexy Hair, among others. I have a strong passion for organic hair care and strive to be "green" in every facet of life. I opened Dot Dot Salon in February of 2008, and am proud to call it Houston's first truly "green" salon.

Hair and style have been lifelong passions of mine, and led me to choose hairstyling as a profession. I love working with clients and trying to help them achieve their best possible look. I've been a cosmetologist for over 15 years and have undergone extensive training with the leading academies in the field, including Vidal Sassoon in London, Toronto, and the US, and Toni & Guy in both Toronto and the US. I've received additional training through American Crew, Graham Webb, Goldwell, Wella and various other schools.

Nature is influential for me in terms of cut and color. Right now, I'm working with colors inspired by nature that blend together for a cool, lived-in look. I'm also influenced by architecture and Japanese and European fashion magazines; I enjoy traveling to new places in search of fresh, complimentary looks that I can incorporate into my own techniques. I believe we're always evolving as people and that personal style can be reflective of that. Change needn't be drastic- something as simple as a color placement, texturizing or tweaking bangs can impact and improve your appearance and make a difference in your outlook as well. I try to be a good listener; I'm always open to the suggestions of my clients, and am happy to offer my own ideas.

I've been in Houston for three years now and love it! I adore Dot Dot and feel very fortunate to work with Dot Dot's team and be a part of Houston's first "Green Salon." My hobbies are Hair, Hair, and Hair... and, of course, my beautiful German Shepherd Dog, Josie. She gives me plenty to stay busy with outside of the salon.

I knew I wanted to be a stylist from the time I was in elementary school, when I often experimented on my dolls' hair and loved to braid and style the hair of all the girls on my volleyball team.  I started my career in New Orleans and, when I met my husband and moved to Houston in 1992, one of the hardest parts of moving was leaving my clients to start over in a new city.  18 years and eight salons later, I still love my work and have carved out a wonderful home here in Texas.

I owned my first of two salons by the age of 29 in the Upper Kirby district.  While great fun, running a busy salon of ten stylists was also demanding, and I eventually sold the business and opened my own contemporary version of the Steel Magnolias salon in the backyard of my Heights home.  Besides the luxury of a 30-second commute, I enjoyed the relaxed company of my boys and cats stopping by to visit on all those pretty days when I kept the door open.  After selling that property, I moved my business to Dot Dot Salon, which is proving a perfect fit.  May 2010 marks my 23rd year of helping people look beautiful - life is good when you love what you do for a living.
